Fall Fun

Vandy Homecoming a few weeks ago- thanks for the Vandy cheerleading outfit, Rebecca, it still fits from last year!

Dave and Avery in the backyard practicing their swings

and riding her balance bike
while I relax in the hammock =)

On Wednesday Avery and I decided to make sugar cookies and decorate them for Halloween. I had forgotten what an ordeal it is! Guess I got that out of my system for this holiday season =)
It was lots of fun though- check out Avery's poor ghost cookie under all of that icing!

Yesterday we hit the park on a beautiful, windy, fall day.

Back at home, jumping in the leaves in our driveway
In our driveway- is it just me or does she look so old all of a sudden? Where is my baby?! =(

Fun at Mimi's

Last weekend, Dave and I went back to Ann Arbor for the residency alumni weekend, and Avery took a trip to Hickman to hang out at Mimi and GDa's house. Ann Arbor was great- so nice to see dear friends and visit all of our old haunts. We haven't been gone THAT long, so it actually wasn't even weird to be back. It was sort of like we were home again, sad. Anyway, Avery also had a great time in Hickman and I thought I'd share a few pics of Avery and Dad at the "pumpkin patch," where she had no interest in pumpkins or hayrides. She just wanted to feed the goats! Katie Sanger's niece through and through =)

Picture Update

I finally uploaded the pictures from my camera to my computer- so here are several from the last few weeks.

When it was still warm, Avery loved to play outside our house in the sprinkler- here she is with Dawkins, giving him much love as usual.

Making Dave a birthday cake =)
My dear friend Erica came to visit a few weeks ago- her first time meeting Avery!

Avery testing out her Nemo Halloween costume
and toting around all 3 of her Nemo toys. She's obsessed!

In the spirit of Nemo, we took Avery to the aquarium when we were in Chattanooga. Here she is at the Sting Ray touch tank.
SharksSnakes

And NEMO!!

And of course her favorite part next to seeing Nemo- the escalator.

Dave and Avery after he finished his 50k
Dave is very skilled when it comes to carving pumpkins- last year he did Dora and this year he outdid himself with Nemo AND Dory. Check it out!

Big News

So sorry for the delay (again). We have been crazy around here, mainly since I am in the busiest season at work, and also because we've been traveling so much lately. I haven't had a chance to sit down and blog or upload pictures, though I have much better ones than these that I will hopefully put up soon. Let's see... several weekends ago, Avery and I went to visit Mom and Dad in Hickman while Dave was at a bachelor party. We visited the corn fields and now Avery knows all about corn- how the combine picks it, puts it in the wagon, gets pulled by the tractor which is driven by Aunt Katie. She could probably teach me a thing or two.

The next weekend, Nancy and Jim came to our house to visit and to help out with a few more projects. Unfortunately I don't have any pics, but we had so much fun and Avery and Nana and Daddy Jim are bigger buddies than ever.

This past weekend was my 10 year high school reunion at Baylor. It was "Baylor-McCallie Weekend", our school's biggest rival, so the football game was a blast (we won!). Saturday, Dave ran a 50k trail run (yes, he's insane) and Avery and I went to our class picnic to see the other Baylor Babies. That night was our party at the Foundry of the Chattanoogan- so crazy to see everyone after 10 years. Some big news lately is that Avery doesn't take the pacifier anymore! Our pediatrician recommended that we go ahead and get rid of it, so Avery and Dave had a long talk about it, and after that she says that paci's are for babies and that she's a big girl. It's so crazy! Of course she has a much harder time falling asleep now and I am very sad to see that paci go in many ways, but I'm proud of Avery for handling it so well. Bedtimes and naptimes are not going so well anymore... send any advice my way if you have any!

Oh let's see... any other big news... oh yes, we are expecting another baby! Baby Morris #2 is due on Feb 15. Things have gone very well so far and I've been feeling fine, just tired, but I'm not sure whether to attribute it to being pregnant, moving, or carting around a 30lb two year old all day. We are definitely nervous about having 2 little ones running around but we're very excited, and I know Avery will be a great big sister. And guess what- it's a girl!

Last Day at the Pool

Since it's after Labor Day, our pool is only open on the weekends, so of course Avery and I had to take advantage of one of our last pool days! Avery has done great with her swimming this summer- especially considering we didn't do much of it when we lived in Michigan. Here is a video of her in our awesome kiddie pool here at Fairvue, and a glimpse of the big pool, etc. Start planning your visits for next summer!
