This past weekend was to honor Dave, but the above picture shows who received all of the attention. =) Sat night was the chief's dinner, which is basically a residency graduation dinner for the 3 residents in Dave's class, so his parents all came up this weekend. Avery was thrilled to hang out with Nana, Daddy Jim, Papa, and Gigi, and behaved beautifully all weekend, as usual.

Dave with Ryan Schulte and Alison Lake, the other graduates. Ryan is moving home to Iowa to work at a private practice, and Alison is doing a fellowship at Vanderbilt next year before heading back into the Navy. We'll be glad to have her in Nashville for a little while!

Dave and Betsy after a long emotional night. I'm so proud of Dave for 6 long years of hard work and can't believe it is actually over. He is a caring and talented surgeon for his patients, a dependable colleague, a true friend, and the best father and husband that Avery and I could ask for. He has his priorities in the right place and has never put work in front of our needs, though he works more than 80 hour weeks and deals with life and death decisions every day that I know are not easy to "leave at the office." Our family is blessed in so many ways, and I'm so excited for the next phase of our lives. I know anything will be great with this wonderful man and his mini-me =)
