In other news, we recently took the "baby side" off of Avery's crib and installed the toddler side. This may seem crazy since she hadn't learned to escape from the crib quite yet, but she was definitely right on the verge. She has been sticking her leg over the edge to try and get out for weeks. Recently, she started leaning precariously over the top while giving me a very defiant look, and I could just picture her toppling out onto her head. Anyway, we decided to brave it, and she is VERY excited about her big girl bed, as you can see in her expression below.
Things are actually going pretty well- it took about an extra hour the first night for her to quit getting out and reading, exploring, pulling everything out of her closet, etc., but since then it's been a relatively uneventful process. We installed a baby gate in the hallway upstairs so she can't come down on her own, and she's been fine so far throughout the night- if she wakes up for any reason then she still calls for us as though she's stuck in her crib. Naps are going ok too, some better than others, but that's nothing new with a 2 year old right? Anyway, I can't believe she's getting to be such a big girl!
