Easter, cont.

We had a wonderful Easter weekend!

Avery and Kaitlyn attended their first official easter egg hunt- here they are comparing baskets before "kickoff"

Ready... go! Ohh.... shoot... the big kids and their PARENTS grabbed all the eggs! Avery ran around the field and never got to an egg in time before someone else scooped it up. I should have known to bring some in my pocket! This was her expression:

That's ok! Daddy had hidden some eggs in the backyard when we got home so it was super fun to find ALL of those! Good thinkin' Dave!It warmed up a bit that afternoon so we decided to introduce Avery to college football. We went to the spring scrimmage game here at the Michigan stadium.

She was really very intrigued by the game and sat with Dave clapping the whole time. I see some fun football seasons in our future =)

The day was also super fun because Avery's best buddy Chris came with us. Avery is very attached to her "Ciss."

On Easter morning, of course the Easter Bunny had hidden eggs for Miss Avery and she had a blast finding them all in the living room and playing with her new toys.

The best part was discovering, unlike the eggs on all of our practice runs, these had CANDY inside. Whoo hoo!

Want some Dad?

Here is a pic before church with her baby doll in their matching Easter dresses.

We found that we didn't even need to hide the eggs- we just kept the basket beside us and tossed a bunch of eggs all around when the girls weren't looking. When they brought the eggs to the basket, we would toss them out again. They would have played that game all day and we were a big hit with all of the folks walking through the Diag.

Finally Spring?

There have actually been a few days recently that felt like spring! Avery and I took advantage last week to play in the park and hunt some easter eggs.

Bunny Ears!
She loves the sand box- likes the slide, and hates the swing.

We dropped Kaitlyn and Jess off at the airport last week- here are the girls so cute in their carseats.
Saturday, Avery and I decided to venture down to the Toledo Zoo. It was wonderful!
Here's Avery waving her "trunk" like an elephant.
I heard a lot of "look!" "look!" Elephants, tigers, bears, monkeys, fish, etc. Whoo hoo!

Self portrait from Girls Week (Dave was in Chicago at a conference)
Avery really loved the seals!

Zoo Train! We have a book about a zoo train, so Avery was ALL about the train. There were hardly any animals to see on the ride because it's still technically winter, but at least the tickets were discounted to $1 =) She still loved it! Here is her new cheesy fake smile.
Conked out on the ride home. Good day!

Avery's Chair

I couldn't resisit ordering Avery her very own chair, I'll just consider it an early Easter Bunny treat =) Here's a video of her with it right after it came- she loves assigning possessions to everything these days "mama's" keys, "mama's" purse, "dada's" playstation controller, etc. so she got a real kick out of saying this chair was "Avery's". You can see how much fun she's getting to be these days- talking up a storm, being adorably cute, and not quite to the terrible two's yet.

Dave just left for a board review session until Monday so if you're in town, call me for a playdate- we'll be lonely!

March Madness

Ok, that's not really right- March has been pretty uneventful. Uneventful is good I guess, here are some pictures from our latest adventures:

Katie had us over last weekend for a super-fun brunch with all the kiddos. Here are Avery, Kaitlyn, Tommy, and Audrey. Of course they're not looking at the camera, but what can you do? We never did get one that also included Nadia, Grant or Hunter! Maybe next time.
Here are Avery and Kaitlyn playing babies with their respective favorite cartoon characters.Gotta change those stinky diapers =)

The weather has been decent this week- the snow finally melted away, and we've gotten outside! Here are Dave and Avery at the park:
A true Ann Arborite- Avery hugs a tree:
On St. Patty's Day, it was really warm so Avery and I played outside quite a bit. She drove her car around the sidewalk
and sprinted all over the yard collecting leaves and mulch.
She's so much fun these days, talking up a storm and being a very sweet toddler!

Time to put the camera away Mom!
PS- no news on selling the house =(

Destin, FL

Avery, Dave, and I had a fun trip to Destin last week! After 2 flights, Avery was pooped when we arrived- she didn't even wake up when we carried her off the plane =)
But she woke up very excited to see Mimi, Granddaddy, Aunt Katie, Papa, and Gee Gee. Avery basically spent the whole rest of the week herding/feeding ducks in Mimi's back yard.

She and Katie chased the ducks. She and Mimi fed the ducks.
Granddad was in charge of herding AveryI even got out there and watched a few ducks myself.
Avery was just happy to be outside and away from the snowy weather- she could have run around out there 24 hours a day. She did take a little break to sit with Granddad.
And to pose for a picture with Aunt Katie.
Her other favorite activity was to chase the seagulls on the bridge.
It was hilarious to watch her sprint up and down yelling "SHOO SHOO"!

Here we walked over to Scott and Carla's place and headed to the beach.

It wasn't quite warm enough for a swimsuit but Avery had a blast playing in the sand. And she really loved getting her feet in the water- I think she would have swam right in if we had let her.
It was a great trip- a nice break from the cold weather and so fun to hang with the grandparents.
Here they are together- Avery certainly didn't lack any attention this week =)
Here was her reaction when we told her it was time to come home: "No No No!!"We look forward to many more trips to the beach!
