My first Mother's Day was great! We didn't do too much- it was a gray and rainy Sunday, but Dave is back from Louisville, so we just hung out and relaxed. He liked Louisville and the urology group there, by the way, so it's still in the running in case y'all are curious. We started out the day at around 3am when Avery decided to be wide awake. She absolutely would not go back to sleep, even in our bed, and wouldn't consider playing quietly in the crib, so we had quite the early start. Mom's flight left at 7:30 and we had to get her to the airport early anyway, so it could have been worse, but geez it was frustrating. We sure hated to see Mimi go! I didn't get to spend much of the actual Mother's Day with Mom, but I did see more of her than I normally get to. We had so much fun with her last week- Mimi and Avery are definitely good buddies now. Here they are playing:
Here is Avery concentrating VERY hard on the button that was on Mimi's shirt- she did this several times last week and it was pretty dang funny.
Here they are practicing Avery's new favorite game that Mimi taught her: splashing. Great- thanks a lot for that one, Mom.
Anyway, I'd better sign off and get to bed since who knows when Avery will wake up. We already had sleep trials and tribulations tonight when we decided to let her cry it out. We let her scream for ten minutes until I was crying as much as she was. We finally ended up getting her to sleep by letting her clutch Mommy's hand through the slats in the crib while I sat on the floor beside her. Man, I used to be able to just lay her down awake, she would fall asleep at 8pm and sleep until 6:30am - but those were the good old days. I'll write more on this later. It's going to be a long week!
