Yard Time!

The frost date here in Michigan isn't until May 20th, but I decided to get a head start on my gardening this past week since who knows how long it will take me to get everything planted now that I have a helper this year. The highlight of my week was discovering a new nursery. For those of you here in Ann Arbor, you need to check out HillTop Greenhouse & Farm. (It's on Liberty, but don't take Liberty all the way out, since it's a dirt road past Zeeb- go on Jackson or Scio Church to Parker and then to Liberty) It's kind of out in the middle of nowhere, but it had a wonderful selection and wonderful prices and it wasn't cramped or crowded and the plants are beautiful. It doesn't take much to excite me, but I was really quite thrilled. Needless to say I bought a bunch of plants and spent much of my week planting and potting. Avery was actually quite content to sit in her pack -n- play out in the shade while I gardened. I put a bunch of toys and some juice and cheerios out there with her, then decked her out in her sun hat and sun screen, and I got quite a bit of work done. Hopefully it won't frost this week- it is supposed to be 40 tonight. Ahh.... the joys of living in the great white North =)

Here we are playing in the grass on Friday:

The rest of our weekend wasn't too eventful, but it was fun. Anna and Katie came over to hang out on Saturday night. Today, I took Avery to church for the first time! Well, I went to church and she stayed in the nursery, but she did really well and I think it will be good for her to start going more regularly. Then this afternoon, I helped my friend Katie register at Babies R Us. It was super fun, as I am a wealth of information on baby gear, and it was quite satisfying to have a captive audience while I compared and contrasted all the features of travel systems, umbrella strollers, bouncy seats, pack-n-plays, activity gyms, swaddle blankets, diaper genies, crib soothers, boppy pillows, etc. etc. I look back fondly on that part of pregnancy- when you are in awe of the fact that it's actually your time to need all of those baby supplies, being totally clueless about what's to come, but fully aware of your cluelessness and absolutely excited about it all.

Oh- you may ask where Dave is this weekend/week- he's in Orlando. He did a great job today, finishing a half Ironman! He's in Orlando for a Urology Conference where he's making 2 presentations about his research. He noticed that the Florida Ironman 70.3 happened to be the same weekend, so he scheduled that in as well. (all in a day's work for my SuperDave) Way to go honey!
